BUSINESS/TEACHING ACCOMPLISHMENTS 1997 TO PRESENT
- Senator Pressler has been an active member of the New York, D.C., and US Supreme Court Bars. For the first five years, he was senior partner at O'Connor, Hannon Law Firm in Washington, D.C. In 2002, he formed his own law/consulting firm, Pressler Group LLC. In addition to the practice of law, he has taught, lobbied, and served on corporate boards of directors. he travels to England, India, Vietnam, and China several times a year for board meetings, lectures, and other business.
Senator Pressler's connections with these countries began in 1964 when he was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University, studying India. Later in the U.S. Senate, Senator Pressler served on the Foreign Relations Committee for 16 years, and devoted much time to Asia and arms control, including authoring the famous "Pressler Amendment" to limit nuclear development in Asia. Senator Pressler has made about 40 trips to India/China.
- The President of Germany bestowed on Senator Pressler the German government's highest honor awarded a non-German citizen – the Knight Commander's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany – in a ceremony at the German Embassy and the U.S. Capitol. The award was given for European/German aviation and trade agreements.
- Senator Pressler has also been recognized by the government of Greece at the Panteion University in Athens; by President Ramos in Manila on behalf of the Philippine people; and by Oxford University in England for his public service.
- Senator Pressler has taught or lectured at the following universities: The Harvard Law School; Harvard Kennedy School of Government; Oxford University (England); University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA); Georgetown; The George Washington University; The U.S. Naval Academy; The Oglala Sioux Sinte Gleska University; University of South Dakota; Creighton; West Point Military Academy

Overseas, he has also lectured at St. John's University Rome campus in Rome, Italy; The Indian National School of Law in Bangalore (India); and, in China, at Fudan University; Shanghai International Studies University; TongJi University; Zhongshan University; GuangDong University of Foreign Studies; and JiNan University.
Recently, Senator Pressler taught and lectured at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, where he is the Thomas Hawkins Johnson visiting scholar. He delivered numerous lectures to international relations, presidential studies and government classes at West Point. He also conducted a seminar of junior and senior West Point cadets applying for Rhodes, Marshall, Fulbright, Truman, Gates, Rotary, Mitchell (to Ireland), Hertz, and other graduate fellowships. He helped the West Point students in writing their application essays, practiced interviews, and participated in a "Mocktail (cocktail) Practice Session," to prepare students for the Rhodes and other interview situations. In a letter of thanks for his efforts, MAJ Gallagher of the USMA Scholarship Program wrote to Senator Pressler:
“On behalf of the entire USMA Scholarship Program, please accept our thanks for your support in 2006…Your efforts contributed significantly to their leadership and intellectual development while also helping the cadets earn several Rhodes, Marshall, and Mitchell finalist interviews, with one Rhodes, three Marshall, and two Mitchell Scholarship winners in the Class of 2007 (Gates, Churchill, Truman, Fulbright, and East-West Scholarship results are pending). Each of our candidates, whether selected to receive a scholarship or not, has excelled this year and developed a greater vision for his or her future as a commissioned officer, scholar, and public servant.”
In March 2008, at the University of Sarajevo in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Senator Pressler lectured on the U.S. Presidential elections. He also spoke in five Bosnia-Herzegovina cities on how U.S. Congressional oversight committees work.
- Former Senator Larry Pressler has joined Blackhorse
Asset Management as a Senior Advisor and member of the board of several
entities. Blackhorse Asset Management is a boutique Asian-focused fund
management company with approximately USD560mil under management. Senator
Pressler will lend support thru his many years of experience with Asia,
particularly with Vietnam. Senator Pressler is a Vietnam veteran and
worked hard on the normalization legislation with Vietnam. He has been a
frequent visitor to Vietnam and was a lecturer at Dalat University Business
School.
